Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 2/4/2023.
To call the morning brisk would be an understatement – it was about 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12C). It was however, incredibly beautiful.
We ventured out about an hour before sunrise to catch the view from downtown Milwaukee at Lake Michigan. It was chilly 14 degrees according to the thermometer in my car. When I took my hands out of the gloves to fiddle with my camera – I had to be quick. The wind chill was debilitating. In fact, after bout 30 minutes outside, my partner and I hobbled back to the car, and really didn’t feel our toes until we were safe at home.
Good things come to those uncomfortable moments however – there were some spectacular views! The most notable thing for me this morning was the sound. If you were able to sit still and not listen to your teeth chattering, you could hear the ice cracking and moving – it was very eerie and very cool!
