At the start of 2023, The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin reached out to me looking to acquire some of my images for their new long-term care wing in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. I was absolutely thrilled at the chance to help create a warm, comfortable atmosphere for families staying at the Ronald McDonald house while their children receive life-saving long term treatment at Children’s Wisconsin.
About the Ronald McDonald House:
In the early 1980s, a small group of dedicated volunteers set out to build the first Ronald McDonald House in Wisconsin because families had no place to stay while their seriously ill child was being treated at Children’s Wisconsin. The outpouring of support to build our House was remarkable. So much so that when we opened in 1984, we called it “The House that Love Built.®” Since then, our House has been keeping families together by providing nearly 55,000 family stays.
These families come from all 50 states and many countries around the world whose children are receiving medical care at Children’s Wisconsin or other area hospitals. (Link to more information about the RMHC).
While I do not yet have photos of my art on the walls in the long term care suites, I do have a copy of the placard that is up in the room with my work:
I will continue to share updates as I receive photos of the installation!
