Storm Front on the Farm
Kempton, Illinois
There is a tiny town in Illinois of about 220 people named Kempton. I mean, it’s tiny – 0.17 Square Miles of town kind of tiny. But its also Magical. Aside of an amazing bookstore (more on that in future posts), there is a great little Bed and Breakfast just outside called the Greenhouse Bed and Breakfast. My partner and I try to go there at least once a year. To stay at the B&B and indulge in an amazing breakfast, and to visit the bookstore – Adventures Unlimited. Again – more on that in later posts as its a pretty important hub for our travels.
One particular trip a few years ago was memorable for bad weather – but amazing bad weather at that. We went onto the rooftop patio of the Greenhouse B&B to catch this incredible storm front move it. Much of Illinois is flatlander territory, so the horizons go on seemingly forever – this makes for some pretty great photography. My partner Jamie and I, along with the Owner of the B&B, Mark, spent some time watching this wonder of nature move in as it got pretty windy!
This very moody print captures a powerful storm front moving across open farm land with an old barn and tractor in the foreground.
